Pistons Need to Close Games Better

All I ask of the Detroit Pistons is that they do not start to become a team like the Detroit Lions.

I know the NBA season is still in the early going but the Pistons should have a little better record than they do right now. However, they have had trouble closing games out, and last night was no different as they blew a 20 point lead to the Charlotte Bobcats, who won 116-106.

Here is what point guard Brandon Jennings had to say about another late 4th quarter loss.

“We just lost focus,” Jennings offered meekly. “It happened so fast, I really don’t know what to say.

“It’s kind of unbelievable what just happened.”

I know the Bobcats are a somewhat improved team and have some talented players on their roster, no way should the Pistons blow that type of lead to that type of team. Here is what head coach Maurice Cheeks had to say about it.

“I think I said to our guys in there and I said it to you guys earlier about the way leads come and the way leads go,” Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. “It just kept steamrolling and steamrolling.

“Once they got into that rhythm, we just couldn’t stop them. They just kept going.”

Well it will go down as another tough lost that the Pistons will hopefully not look back on when the end of the season rolls around, they have to respond on short notice tonight against Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets. These are the games I expect the Pistons to win now that they have the talent to do so. Rodney Stuckey will also be playing in for Chauncey Billups, who will be inactive tonight.

The biggest thing for the Pistons though is to keep the petal to the metal. After all, they do play in the Motor City.
