Titans Lose Heartbreaker to Valparaiso

Well, it was a typical game of two halves.

The Detroit Titans dominated the first half against the Valparaiso Crusaders. They were up 50-32 at the half and seemed to have all the momentum in the world. But to me, one play changed the game.

High flying Doug Anderson went up for a thunderous dunk when Valpo forward Bobby Capobianco went up and drilled Anderson in the air. Anderson fell pretty hard to the ground and Capobianco was removed from the game. However, that is when Valpo turned up the heat with the come back.

In the second half, Valpo outscored Detroit 55-38 to win by one, 88-87. The win ends the Titans 17 game-winning streak at home and 22 game-winning streak when scoring 80 or more points. Nick Minnerath, a senior forward for the Titans had a career high 36 points on 12-16 shooting. He had what was no doubt the best game of his Titans career.

This was a great game overall  but it will for sure test this Titan team. They have to respond quickly as they play University of Illinois-Chicago at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night at Calihan Hall.

Here is the Detroit Titans recap of the game.
