Should the Tigers Trade Rick Porcello?

The rumors are flying.

The Detroit Tigers are in serious talks with the Baltimore Orioles for a trade which would include starting pitcher Rick Porcello and shortstop Jhonny Peralta for Baltimore shortstop J.J. Hardy.

I’m not sure if I am a big fan of this deal if it happens. Although I agree that the organization has lost patience in Porcello, I feel like they could get a somewhat better day while packaging the two players. However, if this deal does for sure happen I think Hardy would fit in pretty well with the Tigers.

If the Tigers got Hardy, it would be an improvement defensively at the shortstop position. The team would be getting a better power hitter in Hardy. But losing Porcello and not getting a pitcher in return would be concerning. If they end up not making this deal though, I think that Porcello would be a good long relief man in the bullpen. He’s not even 24 yet but it feels like Tiger fans have given up hope on him. He has good stuff and can give you innings and a spot start every once in a while.

So, should the Tigers trade Rick Porcello? Or should they keep him and use him out of the bullpen? Or do they try to get more for him and Peralta from the Orioles?
