Jones-Sonnen fight to happen

Jon Jones was able to avoid Chael Sonnen earlier this year on a week’s notice, but that may have been the easier task than what now is in front of the Light-Heavyweight champ.

Earlier today UFC President Dana White announced today that Sonnen and Jones will be the coaches on the next season of the Ultimate Fighter to begin shooting in Las Vegas on October 29.  Jones and Sonnen would then meet for the light-heavyweight title on April 27 on pay-per-view.

This gives one of the best trash-talkers in the history of the sport weeks of Jones’s undivided attention to attempt to get into the champ’s head.

Jones cost gave the UFC its “all-time low” point earlier this year by not accepting a fight on short notice with Sonnen, so White had no interest in giving the champ another chance to dodge Sonnen if he deserved the fight or not.

The next edition of the Ultimate Fighter will feature middleweights and with the addition of these two coaches should make for one of the highest viewed seasons in the history of the show.  April 29 show is already lining up to be one of the best cards of 2013 and only has one fight on it.

What do you think fight fans, is this the type of match-up that you would want to see or would you rather have Jones wait for middleweight champ Anderson Silva?  Let us know at @DSBloggers on Twitter or on Facebook or in the comments below to tell us what you, the fans, think.
