With the Pistons currently at a full roster of 15 players, with five of them being rookies, they are currently unable to sign the few remaining free agents from last season. Former power forward Vernon Macklin has already signed with a team in Turkey but the Greek team Panathinaikos is currently pursuing another, Ben Wallace.
Wallace may not have a lot of value to the team still on the court as he had his worst season since he was a rookie, starting only 11 games with 1.4 points, 0.8 blocks and 4.3 rebounds a game.
His real value would come from mentoring the youth on this team about how to play the game right and to be a professional on and off the court. The kids on the team would see how hard Big Ben works day in and day out and he could help teach them what it takes to be a multiple-time Defensive Player of the Year.
I think the player most likely on the block to make room for Wallace would be Austin Daye. He is buried on the depth chart, but he had a nice summer league showing so the Pistons may be able to get something in return to open a slot for Wallace. If Ben ends up leaving the Pistons again it will be hard to see him go, no matter where it is.
What do you think fans, is Ben Wallace still have any value to the Pistons or should he move on to another team in Europe or the NBA? Let us know at @DSBloggers on Twitter or on Facebook or in the comments below to tell us what you, the fans, think.
