The NFL Draft is over, but Mel Kiper Jr. is back to work already preparing his Big Board and his Top 5 lists for juniors and seniors.
Michigan as a state is well represented in the current 25-man Big Board four players, three Spartans and a Wolverine, with all but one of them being underclassmen. Offensive tackle Taylor Lewan from Michigan is the highest ranked player on the list at number 12, while Spartans CB Johnny Adams (#14), DE William Gholston (#17) and RB Le’Veon Bell (#21) round out the top Michigan players.
Kiper has Johnny Adams as his top ranked senior cornerback, but the biggest surprise is in the top-5 senior wide receivers
Current Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson is considered by Kiper to be the fifth best senior wide receiver, which means he assuming he will switch positions heading into the NFL. I think that Kiper is right and this would be a great move for Robinson to make it in the NFL, he is quick and elusive and has good size for a wide receiver.
The only issue will be his ability to actually catch the ball, which we have little evidence of. Robinson has proved he has the ability to break a big play and get out in the open field so he would have a lot of potential as a NFL wide receiver.
Overall, looking at the lists Kiper has constructed it shows that the state of Michigan will be very successful come the next College Football season.
