As the weather gets colder here in Detroit, the sports teams seemed to have cooled off as well.  The Tigers couldn’t complete an epic comeback against a very good Texas ball club and the Lions received their first loss of the 2011 season.

However, for this weekend not too much is going on locally but there is a couple big games this weekend.

In college football, the Michigan State Spartans have a huge game vs. the Wisconsin Badgers. The game is taking place in East Lansing where the #15 ranked Spartans upended the Michigan Wolverines last week.  The game this week I believe will be tougher for the Spartans as the Badgers are ranked #4.  Honestly, the Spartans will keep this game close with their defense but Wisconsin will end up being too much. Pick: Wisconsin by 6.

My most exciting matchup this week is going to be Auburn vs. LSU. I feel LSU will pull away eventually, but I feel Auburn won’t be a pushover either. I feel like it could be a high scoring affair as well. Pick: LSU by 10.

My upset of the week is Washington over Stanford. I feel like the Huskies are underrated and could surprise a lot of people with a win here. Pick: Washington by 5.

As for the NFL, the Detroit Lions are looking to positively respond after their first loss of the season. They have the Atlanta Falcons this week who are 3-3. I feel like the Lions will do what they have to do and play a lot better than last week. Pick: Lions by 6.

The most exciting game in the NFL this week for me is San Diego Chargers vs. the New York Jets. Lots of emotions are flowing in this game and it should be a very physical matchup, which makes for some good football. Pick: Jets by 3.

My upset of the week is very tough to pick but I can see it happening is Arizona over Pittsburgh.  The Steelers aren’t the strongest this year and the game is at Arizona. Pick: Arizona by 3.
