This is set up to be one of the best days in recent Detroit sports history with the Lions returning to Monday Night Football for the first time since 2001 and the Tigers taking on the Rangers in Game 2 of the ALCS.
First, the Tigers send out “Mad” Max Scherzer against the Rangers and Derek Holland. The Tigers need a big outing from Scherzer and I think he will be able to contain the Rangers lineup. I look for 6 innings with 2 ER from the big righty tonight.
In a surprising move today, Delmon Young replaced the injured Magglio Ordonez on the Tigers ALCS roster. Young was left off the roster because of a strained oblique muscle and will start in left field and bat 3rd again for Detroit. I look for a big win and a split in Texas for the Tigers today by at least three runs.
For the main event of the evening our undefeated Lions host the Chicago Bears. First-round pick Nick Fairley is making his season debut tonight and I expect our defensive line to terrorize Jay Cutler all night.
Chicago’s defense, outside of Brian Urlacher, is not very good and Matt Stafford should be able to pick them apart. I expect over 300 yards and three touchdowns from the quarterback and a big 10 point victory tonight.
