Heading into another summer weekend in the D that brings us the Lions, Tigers and some UFC. First up is Lions training camp taking place all weekend, with Saturday being “Kids Day” at camp. The team will continue to prepare for the upcoming season with the newly signed free agents taking place in some of their first practices with the team, since they were not allowed to practice until the CBA was ratified.
Next, the Tigers have a weekend series in Kansas City against the Royals as they try to pad their lead in the AL Central. With the top three pitchers on the staff going against the last-place Royals, this is a great opportunity for the Tigers to get a potential sweep. Also the Indians are in Texas to face the first place Rangers in a tough series, which is good news for Tigers fans.
Finally this weekend we have UFC 133 with the main event being Rashad Evans against Tito Ortiz. Ortiz and Evans fought to a unanimous draw back in 2007 and both men want to prove who the better fighter. Ortiz is a late replacement for the injured Phil Davis, but he will be ready for the fight, and the animosity between these two men is at an all-time high.
